The Full Story
Joi Alexander
“Ask for help. Not because you are weak.
But because you want to remain strong.”
– Les Brown

Have you ever met someone that can walk into a room and make everyone stop and smile? Do you know what it looks like to witness one person’s light turn negativity into an opportunity for growth and success? Have you been fortunate enough to witness someone move towards their dreams with fierce determination and win?

For those of us lucky enough to have Joi Alexander in our lives…we have seen it all. Not only does she make everyone she meets feel like family, but her also incredibly determined nature is contagious. She can turn one lemon (her favorites) into an entire bakery with a wide range of flavored lemonade.
To her family and friends…she is the one call you make when you need motivation, a shoulder to cry on, a sister to explore and travel with, a friend to celebrate milestones, and the calm when you just need company in the silence. To her children Cameron (16), and twins Aniya (10), and Arie (10) …she is their North Star…their biggest cheerleader…their everything.

In this season, we are reaching out on behalf of Joi, as she faces one of life’s challenging tests: breast cancer. Specifically, she was diagnosed with the most aggressive breast cancer, Triple Negative Breast Cancer.

As many of you know, Joi has always been the epitome of strength and resilience. She stood by her mother who fought her own battle with cancer, supported her father in every way she could when they lost her mother in 2014, and has raised 3 amazing children as a single mother. Even when she was tired, she continued to show up for friends and family, whether they were celebrating or mourning the loss of a loved one; she has been there. Those watching from the sidelines, have seen her work hospitality miracles. She has helped countless small businesses and restaurants grow by helping them create an additional stream of income through catering. They do not call her the Hospitality Hottie for nothing! She has a gift and has helped launched catering at large stadiums, international hotel brands, and your favorite local restaurants.

However, in 2023, her world turned upside down when she received the devastating diagnosis of breast cancer. Navigating through treatments, doctor's appointments, and the emotional toll of the illness has been incredibly challenging for her and her family. As she fights this courageous battle, she is also juggling the responsibilities of motherhood and trying to maintain a sense of normalcy for her children. One of her goals for 2024, was to buy a house. Settle into a home where the kids could pick paint colors and she could build a custom kitchen because she loves to cook.

Joi is halfway through her chemotherapy, and thankfully the tumor is shrinking. However, as she rounds this corner, the more aggressive part of the treatment journey is within sight. Due to her compromised immune system and rigorous treatment plan, she is now unable to work. We all know that medical expenses can quickly become overwhelming, especially while managing household bills and raising a highly active family. Cameron is a competitive swimmer (he is quite good, perhaps we should nickname him Luca) and runs track, and the twins dance at one of the best academies in the Atlanta area). That is why we are reaching out to you today. We have set up a GoFundMe campaign to help alleviate some of the financial burdens on Joi and her family during this difficult time.

Every donation, no matter how small, will make a meaningful difference in Joi’s journey towards recovery. Your generosity will not only provide financial support but also serve as a source of strength and encouragement for her and her family. Please consider donating to support this beautiful woman as she looks cancer in the face and tells it, “You got the wrong one, sucka!” Additionally, we kindly ask that you share this campaign with your network to help us reach as many people as possible.

Together, we can rally around Joi and her incredibly brave children, offering our love, prayers, and support every step of the way. Thank you for your kindness, generosity, and unwavering support during this challenging time.

With heartfelt gratitude,
Team Joi
